The doctors and the team
Fertility Center Berlin stems from the fertility consultation hours for patients desiring to have children of the women's hospital at Pulsstrasse. It was founded in 1999 by prof. Heribert Kentenich, m. d., dr Andreas Tandler-Schneider m. d., and dr Gabriele Stief, m. d., with the personnel working there currently.
The doctors of Fertility Center Berlin had been working together for over 15 years now, and all have over 10 years of experience. Fertility Center Berlin is characterised overall by high scientific activity combined with high ethical requirements towards the solving of patients' and pairs' problems.
Prof. Heribert Kentenich, m. d.
Prof. Heribert Kentenich, m. d.
Born in 1946, he had studied medicine at the Free University of Berlin. He received his licence to practise medicine in 1975, and afterwards his doctoral degree in 1983.
Prof. Kentenich was the head doctor of the women's and general hospital of Charlottenburg in Berlin in 1987-1995, and had his habilitation in 1989. Since 1995 he is associate professor of the Humboldt University and the head doctor of the German Red Cross women's hospital of Westend (gynaecology, obstetrics and reproductive medicine). In 1999 prof. Kentenich had received his additional title in psychotherapy.
Since 1989, prof. Kentenich is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Psychosomatische Frauenheilkunde und Geburtshilfe (DGPFG, German Society for psychosomatic gynaecology and obstetrics), as well as member of the ethics commission of the Ärztekammer (Medical Association) of Berlin. Since 1989 he is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Society of Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ISPOG). From 2005 to 2009 he was a member of the Executive Committee of the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), since 2006 he is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Bundesärztekammer (German Medical Association). In 2007 prof. Kentenich was named chairman of the research group on open questions in reproductive medicine. He regularly writes professional publications for scientific journals, and is active on the editorial boards of the journals 'Human Reproduction', 'Journal für Reproduktionsmedizin und Endokrinologie' (Journal for reproductive medicine and endocrinology' and 'Gynäkologische Endokrinologie' (Gynaecological endocrinology).
Prof. Kentenich is married, and has two children.
Dr Andreas Tandler-Schneider, m. d.
Dr Andreas Tandler-Schneider, m. d.
Born in 1962, he had studied medicine in Graz, Austria, Frankfurt am Main, and Berlin. In 1992 he received his doctor's degree at the Free University of Berlin, topic: 'Husband stress during in vitro fertilisation.' In 1998 he was named doctor for gynaecology and obstetrics.
In the years 1991-1995 dr Tandler-Schneider was a doctor at the university hospital of the Free University of Berlin, afterwards he was until 1999 a doctor at the German Red Cross women's hospital in Charlottenburg. Since 1999 he is a member of the team of Fertility Center Berlin. In 1999 he received basic education in psychosomatic treatment. In 2000 he was named doctor for reproductive medicine and endocrinology. In 2003 he executed for the first time certification of Fertility Center Berlin according to the norm DIN EN ISO 9001; the most recent recertification had taken place in March 2009. Since 2007 dr Tandler-Schneider is a member of the board of the Bundesverband Reproduktionsmedizinscher Zentren Deutschlands e.V. (Federal Society of Reproductive Medicine Centres of Germany).
Dr Tandler-Schneider is married, and has two children.
Dr Gabriele Stief, m. d.
1978-1979 - pharmacology studies in Berlin, 1979-1985 - medical studies at the Free University of Berlin. She had received her professional diploma in 1986. In 1987 she had worked as an AIDS specialist for schools.
In the years 1988-1989 dr Stief was the scientific assistant at the in vitro fertilisation laboratory of the Free University of Berlin. In 1989-1995 she was a doctor at the UKRV (Rudolf Virchow university hospital of Berlin). In 1997 she was appointed doctor for gynaecology and obstetrics. In the years 1995-1999 she was a doctor at the German Red Cross women's hospital in Charlottenburg, Berlin, after which time she co-founded Fertility Center Berlin in 1999.
Dr Stief completed her basic studies in psychosomatic treatment in 1999. In 2000 she was appointed doctor for reproductive medicine and endocrinology.
Dr Stief is married.
Dr Anette Siemann, m. d.
1986-1992 - medical studies at the Free University of Berlin, 1993-1996 she was a doctor at the university hospital of the Free University of Berlin, doctoral degree obtained in 1994.
Dr Siemann worked in 1996-1998 as a scientific assistant of the Charité Campus Virchow in the department of gynaecology and obstetrics, in 1999 she switched as a practice assistant to the practice of dr Peet, m. d., and dr Sydow, m. d. At the same time she had done her education on psychosomatic treatment and worked with Balint groups.
In 2000 she returned to the Charité Campus Virchow where she received her title of doctor for gynaecology and obstetrics in 2001. Dr Siemann was in 2001-2002 a post-diploma education assistant at the German Red Cross women's hospital Westend in the field of endocrinology and reproductive medicine.
Dr Siemann is married, and has two children.
Employed doctors
Mrs S. Jansen

Mrs Jansen had worked in many hospitals in and around Berlin before joining the team of Fertility Center Berlin: the hospital in Neukölln, the hospital in Oranienburg, at the St. Hedwig hospital in Berlin Mitte and at the German Red Cross hospitals in Westend. Since January of 2009 Mrs Jansen is a member of Fertility Center Berlin as specialised doctor for gynaecology and obstetrics. Her fields are prenatal care, urogynaecology and assistance to patients desiring to have children. Mrs Jansen is married and has three children.
Mrs I. von Plauen
Isabelle von Plauen is employed since July 2010 as specialist doctor for gynaecology and obstetrics at Fertility Center Berlin. She absolved part of her specialist education in gynaecological endocrinology and reproductive medicine at a different fertility centre, and before that she worked at the Martin-Luther-Hospital and at the Vivantes Clinic in Berlin-Neukölln. Mrs von Plauen speaks perfect English and French. She is married and has two children.
Dr M. Werling, m. d.

Dr Werling is employed since April 2009 as specialist doctor for gynaecology and obstetrics at Fertility Center Berlin. She completed her specialist education in gynaecological endocrinology and reproductive medicine. Dr Werling was already employed in many university hospitals, among others at the university hospital in Munich and at the women's university hospital in Mainz, where she had already worked in reproductive medicine. Dr Werling speaks perfect English.
